Canadian Sellers only use [sic] Expedited because of its lower base price

Don’t let the name fool you; as others have noted, “Expedited” is surface parcel shipment, generally travelling with other larger, heavier items, so its by far the riskiest in terms of potential mishandling or misdirection. It also takes an unconscionable amount of time to get anywhere - while some Western Canada to Western U.S. shipments will take in barely a week, anything deep NW to deep SE can take up to a month.
Typically, Canadian Sellers only use [sic] Expedited because of its lower base price (which qualifies for Canada Post’s Venture One card discount), plus its inclusion of a tracking number and insurance. But unlike other cross-border air services such as small packet (or light packet if it will fit through a mailslot), you might just need that extra protection via tracking and insurance. I certainly would never ship anything valuable or time sensitive via Expedited parcel, and totally avoid it unless no other faster, better handled air service is practical due to size/weight.
Caveat emptor…
