Seller out of country, neighbor shipped

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

I won and paid for an auction on March 23rd(on a different account). The total was about $247.50. Seller contacted me and said that he was selling the item for a neighbor and that the neighbor claimed that she sent it on March 24th. The seller also said that he was going to be out of the country for a few weeks so he probably wouldn’t be able to help me in case of a problem.

Around April 5th, I decided to try to contact the seller because if it was sent on the 24th, it really should have gotten here by then. Especially since it was sent priority(at least thats what I paid for) and because the item is located only a few hundred miles away. So I tried contacting the seller a few times and then on april 10th I opened a paypal dispute. I figured maybe he would respnd through there. Now, I know he said that he was out of the country so thats probably why he wasn’t responding. But guess what, as soon as I opened a dispute, then he responded.

He said that the item should have arrived by now and that he can’t speak with the neighbor so I should close the dispute untill he talks with her(I can’t reopen a dispute can I?). He also claims that paypal put a hold on his account and that his daughter who also uses the account cannot access the majority of her money. Now something in there sounds fishy to me. I haven’t even esculated this to a claim yet. As far as I knew, paypal doesn’t really do anything untill a claim is filed. Also, even when they put money on hold isn’t it only for the disputed ammount?

Anyway, I am not sure what to say to them. I don’t have a good feeling about all this and the seller telling me to close the dispute and I think they are lying about some things… it just doesn’t sit well.

But then I get another message today from the seller. He claims that the package was shipped back to his neighbor because she put the wrong zip code.

He also said this:

“I also spoke with paypal. I wanted to get more information regarding the claim since Id never dealt with this before. The representative recommended I request you close the claim before the package is sent out again, since I do not have seller protection? This is to safeguard myself incase you receive the goods, but still proceed with the claim. Im not saying you would do this, but its what paypal recommended I work out.”

So what do you all think is going on with this? fishy? Am I being paranoid? What is my next action? It sounds like maybe he won’t have the goods sent untill I close the dispute… That just makes me nervous because I can’t reopen it right? And it also seems like maybe he is trying to make me run out of time for esculating. Sorry that this was so long! Thanks for any help!

Rich Vote for your Favorite Store? What

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

I went there to vote and saw none of my favorites that should be up there. So why isn’t it please pick a store and enter their name as your favorite. Do not the other store deserve a recogition too? I know a lot of stores I have dealt with and bought off of that belong there. So what are buyer’s favorite stores and why do you think that they are the best out of the best?

Shipping raised after auction ends

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

Hello everyone,

I have an auction that ended a couple of days ago via a best offer. The auction lists the shipping cost as 5.00.

After the auction ended, I received an invoice from the seller for my best offer a larger shipping cost, it appears that the seller may have tacked on the amount saved from the best offer on the shipping.

I’ve been on Ebay awhile, and I’m 99.9% sure the costs can’t change after the auction. As such, I’ve not paid, and the seller has gone missing. I’m certain a Unpaid item claim will be filed soon, so I was wondering if anyone knows what the buyer’s steps are in this?

Like I said, I’m not new, but this is a first, so I’m just curious if anyone knew anything. I tried searching Ebay’s help, but either it’s not there, or its eluding me

Seller wants to invoice for additional

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

I am aware that the seller cannot change shipping fees after an auction ends. The auction in question had the shipping set at $20 via UPS Ground, not in a calculator. I paid immediately following the auction via paypal. Today she sent me a message via ebay asking if she could invoice me an additional $20 as her actual shipping cost is going to be $40.

Here is my dilemma, she only has a feedback rating of 6 and only 2 as a seller. I don’t want to be a but* about it but I think she should have made sure about the shipping before she listed her item. Also, I am afraid she won’t ship it now if I don’t pay and she already has my money.

Hmmm…

Seller Changes Terms After Auction

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

This is not the first time this has happened to me: The seller, perhaps unhappy that the final bid was so low, adds charges onto the shipping cost stated in the auction or even though insurance was listed as optional in the auction, now wants to ’self-insure’ the shipment for some outrageous amount. The additional charges are added to an invoice that I cannot alter. Since no payment has been sent, the buyer cannot file a dispute. What can I do, other than simply not pay? Simply trade negative feedback? The seller reserves the right to re-list the item after 10 days of non-payment, effectively canceling the results they are unhappy with.

Counterfeit Tiffany - File police

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

I should know better - but I bought a Tiffany sterling necklace and bracelet.from a seller with decent feedback - she didn’t sell much Tiffany , lots of other designer clothes.. so I thought I was good . The necklace looked a bit off - ( the signature was messy) .
my jeweler says they are both counterfeit. It has passed the time I can dispute thru ebay or paypal.
What are my options? She does not live near - What would constitute mail fraud? how would I file?
thanks
lessons learned - no more Tiffany .

Placing Maximum Bids

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

I bid on an item and placed a maxium of 45. If there had been a previous 45 bid, wouldn’t it have told me I was still outbid when I placed MY 45 bid?

I have a situation where my maximum bid was 45, and the winning bid was 45 but I didn’t win the auction…….

DOes anyone know how that could happen?

Buyer paid for trip, set a date, then

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

Hello fello ebayers,

I have the first issue that I’ve ever had on ebay. I sold a few fishing trips over the winter and was pretty successful… my feedback says it all. Anyway, this gentleman bought a trip from me and set a date… Saturday. We had pretty good communication up to the week before the trip and nothing seemed to be wrong.

I was out of town and unreachable for a few days before the trip Sunday-Thursday but returned two days prior to the date Thursday in order to prepare. The roads were closed to my home town because of weather so I didn’t make it back until the day before… Friday.

I received an email from this gentleman that was sent on Tues or Wed of that same week asking a few questions and stating that they would be driving up Saturday morning. I replied Friday afternoon with the answers and told them I’d see them the next day. Well the next day came and they were a no show and didn’t cancel until that same morning (Saturday) and he wated his money back.

I do not offer any refunds unless special circumstances and there are none here. His excuse for not showing was that he got nervous when I was out of town and thought I might not show. Yet I sent him an email when I got back Friday. I also lost out on a full price trip Saturday because I was already booked with this guy. He is threatening to ruin me if I don’t refund his money.

What would you do?

I paid and the seller is not sending my

Professional Buying April 19th, 2008

Hello,

Could someone please tell me what to do. The seller Nuskin2 cashed my money order (according to Money Gram) and has not sent my merchandise. I called her and she said that she was sending the merchandise and she hasn’t. Ebay suggested that I call back and ask her when she mailed the merchandise, so I did. She then sends me an email telling me that she’s going to file a complain on me for harrassment. Then ebay puts a strike on my account. What can I do? Thank you for any help that you can provide.
