Why a lighter can be so useful.

Pottery & Glass March 30th, 2008

A lighter is one of the most useful things invented (and not just for lighting fires) as it lets you suss out what’s real and what’s not. Basically, if it melts or burns- it’s geneally a synthetic. But if it singes, it’s not.

Lets look at silk & cotton vs. poly/nylon ect ect. Silk and cotton, when exposed to a naked flame, will always singe and won’t really catch alight. The ends will still look a bit… “tatty.” Whereas if you expose a synthetic fibre to a naked flame, it will bubble and boil and burn for a few seconds. The ends where you burnt will almost be fused together. Unless it’s been flame treated (unlikely) you will notice a synthetic fibre will burn better (alot better- a couple of seconds more then a cotton or silk) then a natural fibre. Not only that, but if you are wearing natural fibres and your clothes happen to catch on fire, they will merely burn and turn to ash- while synthetic fibres will melt to your skin. This is espically important when you are buying sleepwear for children.

Another thing is, silks feel more natural. I can nearly always tell the difference between silk and polyester simply by touch- poly doesn’t seem as “dry” as silk and feel more oiley.

The same method works on leather too, except instead of burning a corner of the fabric, you hold the lighter underneath for a few seconds.

HOW TO CARE FOR LINGERIE

Pottery & Glass March 30th, 2008

Fine lingerie is an investment that can last - while not a lifetime - at least for a long time.

By caring for your lingerie properly, you will extend its life and enjoy it for many years to come.

Always check the label sewn into your lingerie or care instructions provided with the lingerie.

Manufacturers understand their product and how to care for it.
The label is always right. If the label indicates dry clean only, please take this advice seriously.
Machine or hand washing a dry clean only garment can ruin it.

If you have removed the label from your garment follow these general guidelines:

Most lingerie may be hand washed in cold water using a mild detergent. Be sure to rinse completely.
Always drip dry lingerie or dry on a flat towel. Never put lingerie in the dryer.
You may use gentle steaming to remove wrinkles.

Fruity1176 recommends that you wash your lingerie in a lingerie wash bag.
These bags ensure your fine lingerie does not become twisted and stretched in the wash.
You can purchase wash bags from most lingerie and 2dollar or junk stores.

I hope someone finds this interesting or helpful.

How a Clay Mask / Skin Care Mask Works

Pottery & Glass March 30th, 2008

Masks have been used for skin clarification for thousands of years. In essence, you put a layer of ’sticky stuff’ on your face, whether it’s clay, gel, or other combinations. Because it has a bit of stickiness to it, and is mostly liquid goo, it squishes down into your nooks, crannies and pores of your face, connecting with all the dirt and grime hiding in there. As the goo dries, it pulls away from your skin, and it pulls all of those impurities and dead skin cells with it. This is sort of like if you took tape and pressed it against a linty sweater - when you lifted the tape, all that lint would stick to the tape and lift away with it.

When you then wash off the dried up goo, you also wash away all that old oil, dirt, grime, etc that was buried deep in your pores. You wash away the dried dead skin. That leaves you with fresh, clean, non-oily skin. The masks tend to have a good amount of water in them so as they dry, your skin is being hydrated, which is a good thing. Your pores, now clean of junk, can close up and be nice and small, giving your face a smoother appearance. Your blood vessels tend to open up a bit with this warmth, which means they do a much better job of bringing nutrients to your skin and removing toxins and impurities.

So in general a face mask is VERY good for your skin - not just from a beauty standpoint (fewer acne problems, cleaner pores, smaller pores) but also from a health standpoint. Your skin is literally how your body keeps infections and virusses from entering your body, so the healthier your skin, the healthier you are.

Specialy for ladies

Pottery & Glass March 30th, 2008

I knew there’s so many people have problems with buying and searching the right garments for themselves. I’m personally have a problem myself but I have some suggestions to share with anyone in this world trough my eBay world.

* Every size is important but if the style isn’t the right one than it deffenetely not match you at all.

* Every colour is beautiful but if it doesn’t match your skin as there’s so many defferent type of skin around than it wouldn’t match at all.

* Every designs are interesting from simple to glamour but you know what you’re up to.

* Every women wants the right style & colour to match they needs but…

* Every body always pick a black colour as their favourite colour so…….

Me and my tips: I have a cream colour skin and a small size.

My favourite colours are black, brown, navy & white as they’re look fabulous on me but not until I married I found purple, torquise, green, olive green, mustard, burgundy/maroon, cream & all pastel colours just gorgeous on me. I have to say red, pink/hot pink, blue, yellow, & other hot colours isn’t the right one.

I’m also very good on mix and match things. My mother is a Taylor and I used to make a lot of suits and dresses with her until 7 years ago when I found my sweetheart and start my new family with him married with 2 little girls. I’m still the same love the word clothes or garment. I realise this is my world & it’s hard to turn away for something else. There’s so many times I walk in the street and people stoped me and said “Where did you get that top or dress?” I said, “I made them myself or my mum made them for me.

So………….. what is the colour of your skin? Take a look which colour of garments that match your skin.

* White/cream : purple, white, cream, tan, black, brown, dark brown, chocolate, latte, aubergine, lilac, blue sky, olive green, dark green, green leaves, mustard, torquise, navy & all pastel colours is just fabulous.

* Light brown/tan: black, white, cream, medium blue, brown, tan, latte, purple, lilac & any medium colours. To be continued…

* Black/dark brown : yellow, hot pink, hot red, bright blue, torquise, violet, white, cream, olive green, bright green, bright purple, bright orange, bright brown & any bright colours or hot colours. To be continued…

Note: if you follow your eyes colour than it would be another way. Example: if you have a blue colour eyes than a medium blue/blue ocean is the perfect colour. To be continued……
