Mary Kay: Infringement Rights That Can Backfire On You!

Gift April 29th, 2007

Hello to every person who thinks that selling Mary Kay Cosmetics and skincare on eBay is okay. It is not!! If you were to call their corporate line today, you would undoubtedly find this out! All those goodies you are selling, are being sold illegally, and if Mary Kay Corporation knew your address, you would be prosecuted! They just don’t have the wherewithall to track down every cheater online, but for each person that is found out and reported, they will be contacted and warned, or maybe more than warned! Mary Kay is very strict about their copyrights, and it really galls me that as a consultant, I have to put up with people undermining my business by going against all that Mary Kay stands for!

Sure, if you have extra product, you may want to get rid of it, that is, if you don’t want to be a consultant anymore. There is a way to make more money, and that is to sell it back to Mary Kay at 90%. And if you are an active consultant, shame on you! What are you thinking? Or not thinking?

For those of you who conveniently state that you are not a consultant, and not associated with Mary Kay in any way, and your auctions are not sanctioned by that company, do you really think that that protects you from a major lawsuit? You had better think again! For that matter, eBay has a lot of nerve advertising and encouraging people to sell Mary Kay products! I was on a site tonight where the seller stated that she has a full store and can get whatever anyone needs at any time! She was selling brand new products, just released! If she is not a consultant, then where the heck is she obtaining these products for resale? The last time I looked, I had to purchase them from the company and there are strict regulations for purchasing. There is a whole system built for this, and rules to be followed and rewards for the work we do, the sales we make, and the teams we build! How dare this person brag about her underhandedness!

If  I could report everyone of you who hurt my business and others like me who bust their butts to build their business by the book, I would be all over it!

Air purifiers - The real alternative

others April 29th, 2007

To begin with, allow me to thank you for checking out my guide. Secondly, you will notice I do not deal in the product I am about to endorse. Last, let me complement you for considering such a wise investment. I am sure that you have heard about the dangers of our indoor air and you are taking steps to improve it.

While searching for an air purifier I would like you to do some research on a natural alternative. If you have been to a spa or holistic center recently maybe you have seen these. If not hopefully you have been near a beach at one point or another. Perhaps you have taken a salt bath. You will notice at either place how pure and refreshing the air seems in these places.

The explanation is incredibly simple. Salt! Salt lamps are the natural ionizer and refresher. You may notice this trend is growing. I personally own three salt lamps and, despite suffering from allergy symptoms for as far back as I can remember, have not experienced allergy symptoms since I purchased these. Plus I paid less than a quarter of what I would have spent to purchase an ionic breeze.

There are many sites that explain precisely how they work so I won’t replicate what they say. Do yourself a favor, at the very least, and do the research. I personally purchased Himalayan salt lamps. If I was you I would steer completely clear of the Ionic Breeze. It is endorsed by a company who is unwilling to release their requirements for endorsement and independent consumer reports show they deliver very little.

Which Witch is a REAL Witch???

Jewelry April 29th, 2007

Which Witch is a REAL WITCH?

I have read so many reviews and guides in referance to Fakes, Scams and New Witches. I agree with most cautions, what brings me to write this is the NEW WITCH = Fake witch Theroy, but I see a flaw with these righteous ones that the claim that this sudden rise of new witches that most to all are fakes (depending on which review)

I actually read one that TEACHES and points out step by step who to BE A FAKE, by altering photos all the while continued to criticize the NEW TREND OF FAKES and SCAMS.

So here are my opinions, they come from a true hereditary Strega Witch. Lets talk a minute about what and how to tell who really is a Witch?

The Misconception.

They miss one very important point of understanding, the one that a true witch would never miss or let go unnoticed. That is that until recently “Coming out of the Broom Closet” was NOT accepted, in fact until recently and in many places still today the idea of Witch’s craft, Wicca or Pagan is a trigger word that sets off many into the thought…of Devil worshipers, evil and result in violent action.

To set the record straight, we, Pagans or Wicca do not even acknowledge the Christian deity of Satan, nor have we ever boiled babies, nor do we actually fly upon our brooms, they are used to create a circle and for ceremonial purpose, we drive just as non-witches do.

I AM, THERE FORE…I WILL BE COUNTED

I am a Witch, I am hereditary as in my family has a long linage back as far as I have been able to trace of Strega. I am third generation in US as my family came from Italy. I, myself, came on eBay as a way to reach others, to be an example in public of the GOOD of witchcraft.

Why would a Real Witch sell historical and magickal items?

Why I do is my family has a pack rat curse LOL, and when things begin to pile up I move them unto a place where they can be used rather than stored. What you NEVER see me sell are my family journeys, BOS, and family techniques of blends of hundreds of years of practice.

Moneys that are raised from the sale from my items go towards my greenhouses in which I raise magickal plants and herbs in accordance to the rules of the moon and magick. Funds are also used to provide free guidance and assistance to those who seek the help from the coven.

Although I am raising, the next generation of Witches, I will pass my personal items unto her or both my daughters. But since I have led two covens within those covens many items are made to help others, as individuals would come for help, these items where lent to help and then returned to us. Those I sell.
I also am the only current practicing Witch in this generation, although a couple others pass in and out, but are dedicated to the art. So as the last generation passes, I am the one these things come to. I pass on what I do not need, again I will not sell certain items.

So many true witches do sell magickal items. They can accumulate very quickly and if they build up to much the energies from one item interfere into other items. So it is practical to find a new place, and owner, rather then what we used to do is either bury them or cleanse them from the energy they hold.

I have to sell my Faeries items quickly because I have worked with them for so long it is like they are lined up happy to be accepted in today’s world, excited to be placed again amongst the mortals. That if I do not move some out, they begin to jump unto and attach to other item, which is the energy mix thing.

Did you Know???

That 97.9 % of the population has some sort of ESP / Psychic abilities. That with guidance and education it can be developed.
It is like spotting that shiny bike, want to ride it, take some time, a few falls and off you go. Take more time and practice and soon you’re doing jumps and stunts. Take even more practice and you could achieve BMX level. The more you practice anything the more capable you will become.

President Bush has denied Wiccan’ s serving our country their religion and this was within the past year. For that he will stand before the God and Goddess and only they will or should judge him.

This battle for us has continued for centuries. Many that were burned in the 1670’s-1690’s were in fact not witches at all, but the righteous ones found a way to remove those less desirable from their community by simply calling “witch…witch” Read one of the many books on the Salem Witch Trials or the European Witch Hunts, Sadly many of the ones tortured and burned were innocent. Witches have been around and working silently within our communities for the last couple of hundred of years. In the 1960’s when Crowley stood up and said “hey, is anyone else practicing the old religion?” slowing and meekly he found thousands around the world in fact where still practicing. Now this “New Age” the baby boomers, the open minded and alternative generation have made a tiny opening for us to yet, once again try to come out and teach.
As an example, Alternative medicine…hum there as great point, we have the ability as all Shaman know to heal all disease and infections with natural plants (says so in the Christian Bible). Yet anytime a natural cure wants to enter the market, they are shut down by the FDA, who is controlled by the drug companies. Sad, people are dieing and there is a cure.

What results should you expect from a Magickal purchase?

Witches study and master techniques for years, many of us have been in training our whole lives. It is not something you can just pick up one day and poof ! have the success.

If you have bought a Fairy item or a Genie or Jinn item, you should have received (if not put in the description) The incantation to summons that power, a spell of protections and instruction of how it works. If you did not and are not practicing the craft, it will just sit there and look pretty. You were taken by a fake and chances are they will only respond with…be patient, then you need to inquire with a real witch they can tell you what to do.

Homeschooling

others April 29th, 2007

I was homeschooled for 11 years, graduated from “Heavana Home School,” and went on to obtain two bachelor’s degrees from Florida State University on a full-ride scholarship.  I plan to homeschool my own children and have already been researching curriculum.  You name it, I have either tried it or seen someone else try it.

If you are considering homeschooling, let me encourage you that it does not have to be expensive.  Borrowing books from the library can help out a lot, but recently I have discovered that Ebay may be an even better choice!  My favorite curriculum program is listed in the Ebay auctions at very low prices, and individual math workbooks, science kits, and high quality literature may be found in abundance.

The most important part in choosing your children’s curriculum is evaluating their learning styles and your educational goals, as well as whether you would prefer a traditional approach or a more eclectic, hands-on approach.  Either way, the decision cannot be based on cost.  Your children are worth any price.  But once you have made that choice, your costs can be made significantly lower by utilizing Ebay and its associates.

Good luck with your schooling adventures!

Clicker Training Your Dog!

others April 29th, 2007

A fabulous way of training your dog of any age some new tricks or basic obedience is with clicker training.  A clicker is a little gadget that when pressed makes a very distinct clicking noise.  The clicker is usually about 2″L x 1 1/4″W x 5/8″H so it will fit easily in your pocket. Most have a stretchy loop so it can go around your wrist.

The point of the clicker is to let your dog know the exact moment he/she has done something correctly. By pressing on the silver coloured part this little gadget will make a noise (click).

For example, if I am training a puppy I will first click and give a treat. Then click again and give a treat. I would do this a few times until the puppy associates the click with a treat.

Then I might teach the puppy to sit by clicking every time he/she is in the sitting position. This lets the puppy know their bum touching the floor is correct and also buys me some time. It is very hard to say ‘good dog’ and get a treat in their mouth the second their bum touches the floor. By clicking they know what they did to earn the click…and in turn earn a treat.

Dolphin trainers use this same technique when teaching new tricks. If they are teaching a dolphin to say jump over a pole they will blow on the whistle the moment the dolphin is as high as they need to be. This tells the dolphin where they need to be in order to earn their treats!

Every aspect of training can be aided by a clicker. When walking I click whenever my dog walks right next to me and doesn’t pull. I taught my dog to lie down and wait for as long as I want him to before he is allowed to go to his food bowl…which always contains my home made dog food! For the recipe please see my Feeding Your Dog guide!

There are many books and videos available to help with clicker training. Why not give it a try and see how much fun you can have with your dog! You will find out just how funny it is when your dog starts trying to work the clicker himself!

HOW NOT TO BUY FAKE JORDANS

Clothing April 29th, 2007

Hey there Jordan Fans and Ballers,

Buying fake Jordans can be a bit upsetting.

Ebay is a great place to shop but unfortunately can be difficult sometimes because of the products not being tangible till after purchase. As the consumer you rely on the information of the seller. This info can sometimes be very suspect.

I have bought 3 pairs of Jordans off ebay… and none of them turned out to be real.

Firstly, decide on how much you are willing to spend. Authentic Jordans are not cheap. I do not sell them and I am not a salesman, ok!

I bought a pair of Jordan XI’s. I paid for 2x White versions and 1x Red/black scheme - all off different sellers. The red/black shoes literally lasted till the end of a second game on an indoor basketball court. The fronts came away from the meshy stuff (where the shinny part meets the mesh infront of the tongue). They looked as if I had been playing on sandpaper!

The other 2 white ones were different from each other. One had a more ‘blue’ clear sole, while the other had a much ‘yellower’ sole. (no, not an oxygenated authentic yellowy sole! As in a crap yellow sole). One jordan was stitched one way and the other different again.

Secondly, look closely at the dealer. Ask yourself questions. Do they also have a business that you can walk into? Have they been doing it long? Are they in Hong Kong, and apparently selling authentic Jordan shoes for 50 bucks?

I am trying to not be predjudice here, but this is my experience. All the shoes I bought from 3 different sellers were all boasting phrases like “Authentic” or “money Back” or “Dont be scared”. Hmm… I am a Bit suspect now and so you should be too.

I personally am a basketballer. Have loved basketball for a long time. Have loved Jordan and everything he has done for bball. But rip off Jordans do not benefit Jordan, your wallet or your feet. Real Jordans are very comfortable.[like my grey XXI’s : )]

Check out the heap of “how to spot fake Jordan shoe” websites that are out there at the moment which can be found easily searching at/on google.

Like anything that has a premium, people don’t like seeing people ripping others off. Which is good for the consumer and the manufacturer,. Some of these helpful sites have the:

- Release dates for the shoes (Telling you when the shoes were available)

- The availibility of the shoes (where they a Limited release? What colour schemes, or colourway as it can be referred to were, and are the shoes available in?

Different shades of colour do not accidentally occur. If a seller has shoes that seem just that little bit off be wary. Light red and Rich Red for example are different, right?!  So do not pass it off as a photo error (unless the whole photo is obviously a wreck).

If you are still unsure tell the seller to put a better photo up on there site, or to send you a better photo so that you can see the shoes in more detail. These items are shoes after all - and expensive - try not be embarrassed or feel like you are “hassaling” the person for information, In business to get at least what you pay for is fair honest.

- Try and get a variety of angles of the given shoe.

( a visual production can be very helpful. For instance take the popular Jordan XI, does the carbon plate found on sole at the bottom/middle of the shoes look like a roughish - embossed type - real carbon fibre plate or just a smooth piece of grey plastic with black non touching dots/different colour dots or whatever - or maybe the seller isn’t even showing a picture of the sole! Look CLOSELY).

They Might be very hard to return to a person in the business of selling fake shoes.

Use this useful visual Qualitative and factual quantitative information to at least make an educated evaluation of what you could be getting.

Lastly, do not assume expensive means real. It seems a lot of people have caught on to the notion of cheap means fake and have come back with a big stick! I just looked up “Jordan red/Black 11″ and they were all FAKE shoes, some fetching for 275US and 375US respectively.

I hate to admit it, I get bored praying the rosary

Jewelry April 29th, 2007

So many people buy my rosaries because they are different than the usual. They have beads in the shapes of fish to remind people that Jesus entrusted his apostles to be “fishers of men.”, or they have wine urns to remind people of Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding of Canna as just a few examples.

But these different beads, while inspiring, are not enough to keep the meditations and prayers going.

So what do you do when you are unlike the vast majority who can walk the beach, or use their exercise walker, while reciting the rosary?  What if praying the rosary drags for you, no matter how much you want to practice this devotion?

Thankfully, there are many solutions to this problem.

First, if you would like to combine physical activity like walking with the recitation of your rosary, there are many recordings of the rosary both on DVD and VHS available from EWTN and FamilyLand which can also be found on Amazon and Ebay.  With these recordings, you can actually pray the rosary with the host leading.  You will be treated to inspirational pictures from the Vatican and private collections, while in other recordings, you will  view the Holy Land and the places our Lord actually walked.

On CD and audio tape, you can say the rosary with such notaries as Father Peyton, Mother Angelica or Pope John Paul II leading you. In a portable CD player cassette tape player, you can listen and pray as you vacuum, do the dishes or many other chores and activites.

But if you want to be relaxed, and meditative, my suggestion is to obtain a little blue and white hard covered book called the “Scriptural Rosary.”  My mother gave me my copy many years ago, and I can’t exaggerate how much I’ve used this book.  It’s small size makes it easy to to keep in a coffee table drawer, and in pocket or purse for travel.  It’s hard cover makes it extremely durable.  It is a bit pricy, but worth every penny in my opinion.

This book takes the three mysteries of the Rosary; Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious, and gives Bible verses for each Hail Mary bead.  Can’t remember how to start a rosary - is it with an Our Father or a Glory Be?  This book leads you with no pressure.

Soon, you will be looking up the rest of the verse in you own Bible, making you more familiar with everything the rosary is about.

As an added bonus, after using this book for a while, you will be able to say the rosary in the conventional way, but the relative scriptures will come to mind, making every recitation of the rosary more meaningful.

How to choose the right wicks for your candles

others April 29th, 2007

CD wicks, LX wicks, RRD wicks, Cotton Core, Coreless….what’s the difference?  What wick do you need?

Trying to figure out what wick to buy for your candles?  It depends on several factors, mainly, the size of the jar and the type of wax.  If you are using 100% Paraffin wax you probably want to use one of the following types of wicks; zinc core wicks, Heinz coreless wicks (aka. CD wicks), or German Coreless (aka LX wicks).  For natural waxes, gel and crystals you want to look at Wedo (RRD) wicks, Zinc wicks, German Coreless (LX) wicks.  Each of these types of wicks have varying sizes based on the diameter of your candle.

Heinz Coreless wicks (CD wicks); these wick are called coreless because they do not contain a metal core.  A lot of candle supplies will say lead free, but you aren’t allowed to sell lead wicks in the U.S. so it isn’t really necessary to say.  The type of metal core that you can find in wicks is zinc, which is safe to burn, but some chandlers prefer not to use them because they burn hotter and may cause more black smoke.  These wicks have a flat braid that is rigid enough to be used in pillars as well as containers.  The tip of the wicks bends while burning and practically becomes self-trimming.  They are designed to reduced mushrooming (carbon build up), smoke and soot.  This wick is good for both paraffin and vegetable waxes.  CD3 tealights,CD4 small votives, CD5 votives, CD6 2″-2.5″ diameter candles 3.5″ length, CD8 2.5″ - 3″ diameter 4″long, CD10 3″-3.5″ diameter 5″long, CD12/CD14/CD16 3.5″ - 4″ diameter candles, CD18/CD20 4+” diameter candles.  This type of wicks can be purchase pre-tabbed & primed (pre-waxed) and they come in the length I stated above or this type of wicking can be purchased in raw form and you add the tab yourself and cut to desired length.  We carry these pre-tabbed in Our store

German Coreless Wicks (LX wicks); flat braided cotton wick is also called coreless because there is not metal (zinc) core.  It burns hot like a zinc wick and is great for gel wax and crystal wax.  They are designed to reduced mushrooming (carbon build up), smoke and soot.  These wicks also come in a variety of sizes depending on the diameter of your candle.  I don’t work with gel or crystal wax so I don’t use these or carry these in our store.

Wedo (RRD) wicks; from the makers of the LX wicks they are cotton core braided wicks that burn well in natural waxes, I’ve been told they also burn well in gel but I’ve never tested this myself.  The way these wicks are braided it allows the tension in the wick to remain strong and standing in container candles with a slight bend at the top while burning allowing it to practically become self-trimming.  This type of wicks also comes in raw form or primed and pretabbed.  Check Our store for tabbed RRD wicks and wick samplers, which allow you to try several sizes.  RRD34 is for 2″ - 2.5″ diameter candle including 15hr votives, RRD37 is for 2.25″ - 3″ diameter candles, RRD40 is for 3″ - 3.5″ diameter, RRD47 is for 3.5″ - 4+” diameter candles.

Zinc core wicks; this is a standard type of wick that works well in just about all container waxes, except palm wax and crystal.  28-24 is for tealight/floater wicks, 44-24-18 is for votive and 1″ - 2.” diameter candles, 51-32-18 is for 2.5″ - 3.5″ diameter candles, 60-44-18 is for 3″ - 4″ diameter candles, and 62-52-18 is for 4″+ diameter candles.

Please note:  there are many other type of wicks; hemp core wicks, htp wicks, square braided wicks, etc. but I am not familiar with those type of wicks.
After choosing what type of wicking you want to use you still have to figure out the size to use for your container or pillar.  The suggestions above are just a reference for you to begin with because the only way to know for sure is to do test burns.

Night vision - what to look for

others April 29th, 2007

This guide is meant to help you think about what you want from your night vision experience. Night vision has many uses beyond the military applications. Birders and nature lovers have learned to gaze in wonder at the lively displays of night creatures.  They are also an aid in hunting - certain animals only come out at night. Night fisherman have used these devices see to fish in shallow water. Neighborhood watch captains have successfully identified criminals. What do you want to use your device for? I hope to help guide you to the correct type of device for your needs.

When looking for a night vision device - whether it is a scope, a binocular or monocular, the most important thing to think about is your intended use. Consider your environment carefully - “one size” does not fit all! A scope meant for a hunter - who works in the darkest woods - will practically blind a person using their scope for neighborhood watch in an average urban nightscape. Too much light entering the lens can also destroy the unit, you can’t use these things in the daytime or in substantial brightness.

Another consideration of your environment is distance - think about how far away you might typically be from the things you intend to observe. keep in mind that the amount of light captured relates directly to your magnification. A powerful lens will give you higher magnification for viewing far off objects, but it also decreases the amount of light captured.

The factors typically involved in choosing a night vision device are:

Gain: this is related to the light you can recieve. If you have a higher magnification you need to have a higher gain, because long lenses do not transfer light well. A typical lens with good gain is 23 lin./mm and up, but do keep in mind that high gain is not a good thing in wel lit places. High gain is less needed when viewing objects up close. In other words, you dont need high gain when viewing the deer in your suburban backyard.

Range: this is related to your level of magnification - 1x to 3x is typical. 2x or better is what I recommend, but again, look at how that affects your gain.

Image quality:  this is related to the resolution of your device - it’s just like a little television set - higher resolution is always good.

Speaking of image quality - just what does night vison look like? Image enhancement has to do with gathering available light and boosting it to a level that the human eye can easily see. It looks a bit like a cheap black and white television, tinted green. Thermal or “heat vision” is wonderfully and weirdly colored, but it’s a type of night vision not typically available for the consumer, so we’re looking at the average image enhancement device experience.  Through an image-enhancement type of night scope you should expect to see clearly and crisply in the center of your vision, with increasing blur to the sides. The cheaper and earlier types of device will have increased distortion and possibly black spots. The images you see will be a glowing green - because the devices basically “sees” in shades of grey, and the human eye can most easily discern between shades of green. Every living creatures will have spooky glowing eyes. This isn’t so good for documenting your prom - nobody will thank you for showing them in this eerie light. On the bright side, you can aim it at your friends to make them look like zombies!

Night vision devices come in several “generations”. First generation units can be used in full or mostly full moonlight. Second generation scopes use a different technology, featuring “microchannel plates” that have been charged with electrons. It’s inner workings are quite complicated, but you dont need to know how it works to enjoy the increased clarity. Second generation scopes can be used during full to thin moon phases, and can typically see much farther than first generation. Third generation scopes can be used in starlight and even cloudy nights. This is the stuff the American military uses, and they dont like it when 3rd or even 2nd generation is shipped out of the USA, so be aware they may pay attention even to what you order on eBay!

Most of the affordable night vision scopes are first generation. For first generation scopes, it is useful to have an infrared or “IR” light mounted to your scope. This is useful because it gives off a little more light for your scope to work with, and the infrared light cannot be seen with the naked eye. The later or higher generation scopes dont typically use IR illumination, although many users have found it can be a bonus. By the way, I have seen the “night vision” devices that consist of a cheap plastic monocular attached to a normal flashlight - this would entertain a five year old, but most likely scare away whatever or whoever you have in your sights!

As to the style of these devices - it’s up to you what you like to play or work with. they can be cameras, monoculars ( spyglasses ), binoculars, or even goggles. I prefer monoculars, because I find them lighter and I dont mind squinting one eye. Binoculars give a better view because they have depth perception. Cameras are good for recording what you see. With an infrared light on a night vision camera, you can easily spot and document a license plate on a suspect car at night.  Goggles are fun because they are hands-free and they are great for wandering in the forest at night. Goggles typically dont magnify well, though you can sometimes add lenses to them.

No matter what your intended use, I hope this guide has shed a little light on your quest for night vision!
